Pre-Owned Luxury Watch Platforms: Chrono24, Bob’s Watches and Jomashop

Pre-owned luxury watches account for the majority of serious acquisitions across the Gulf, where authorised dealer waitlists for Rolex, Patek Philippe, and Audemars Piguet run two to seven years. Three platforms dominate the market. Chrono24 as the largest global marketplace, Bob’s Watches as the first certified pre-owned exchange, and Jomashop as the leading grey market source. Each serves a different buyer profile, carries different risk, and interacts differently with the 12 to 13 percent GCC landed cost that determines whether a cross-border purchase makes financial sense.

Pre-Owned Platforms

Chrono24 processed $875.1 million in watch sales in 2025 across more than 340,000 active listings from over 25,000 sellers. Bob’s Watches operates as the world’s first certified pre-owned Rolex exchange, now carrying 12 additional brands including Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet. Jomashop sources authentic brand-new overstock from dealers worldwide and sells at discounts that regularly exceed 30 percent, without manufacturer warranty.

Each platform serves a different buyer. Chrono24 offers the widest selection and the strongest escrow protection through its Trusted Seller programme. Bob’s Watches offers certified authenticity and a best-price guarantee on pre-owned Rolex references. Jomashop offers the lowest prices on new grey market stock, with the trade-off of a proprietary warranty that typically reduces resale value by 10 to 15 percent compared to a full-set example. Brand-level secondary market positioning for Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet and seven additional maisons is covered in the luxury watch brands section.

Gulf buyers should factor UAE import costs into every calculation: 5 percent customs duty plus 5 percent VAT applied to the combined value of the item and the duty brings the effective landed cost to 12 to 13 percent above the purchase price, before handling fees. This narrows the Jomashop discount advantage considerably for buyers in the UAE and KSA.

GCC Import Duties: What Every Gulf Buyer Must Know

As of 1 January 2025, all six GCC member states operate under a unified 12-digit HS code customs tariff. Watches shipped into the UAE carry a 5 percent customs duty plus 5 percent VAT on the combined value of the item and the duty, for an effective total of 12 to 13 percent above the purchase price before flat handling fees.

Buyers in Saudi Arabia receiving goods re-exported through Dubai face additional border duties depending on the origin and added-value classification of the goods. The platform guides above address these costs in the context of each specific buying scenario. The 12 to 13 percent threshold also determines which references clear break-even for Gulf collectors, a calculation covered in the value retention data section.
